About the eBenicia Business Directory


The Benicia Business Directory (eBenicia) was started in 2002. The premise is simple, provide a way for all Benicia businesses to have some presence on the web. Every business gets a free listing. Businesses who want a more prominent listing can pay more to get more.

The eBenicia business directory was created by Tony Shannon of Miyoji Productions. Tony started designing web sites in 1998. Over the years clients have included; artists, retail shops, construction companies, chambers of commerce, restaurants, psychotherapists, and more. Around the year 2000, it was clear that web sites were moving in a more functional direction. Businesses wanted web sites that did something and were more than just a brochure on the internet. At this time, Tony started developing web applications. Since that time, custom web applications have been the flagship product of Miyoji Productions.

After creating numerous web applications for other companies, Tony decided to create one for himself. He felt Benicia would benefit from an on-line business directory and eBenicia was born.

eBenicia was built by a Benician, is maintained by Benicians and is hosted in Benicia. According to our research, we are the only Benicia business directory which can boast this loyalty to local business. Many Benicia companies use web site designers out side of Benicia to do web site creation, maintenance and even hosting. Some of those companies even sub-contract out to China, India, Turkey or other countries. Miyoji Productions receives solicitations from foreign web site companies looking for sub-contract work over the phone, email and through on-line chat. We have never accepted these offers nor will we. Miyoji Productions and eBenicia operate under the firm belief that in order to survive, we must keep our money local.
